The Winter Weekend Tournament is 2 days of chess hosted in a 4-star hotel in the heart of Cambrils on the Costa Dorada. We’ve arranged special pricing so it’s easy to stay overnight at the hotel to make a short holiday out of the weekend. The hotel bar will be open throughout the event.
Tournament:
Friday, 7 rounds of blitz sessions of 5 minutes plus 2 seconds, from 22:00 to 24:00
There will be trophies for the blitz sessions, the youngest player, the best female player, and the top 3 players. In addition the overall winner will receive 50€, the second place will receive 30€, the third place will receive 15€.
Fresh (dal Raig) local olive oil will also be raffled among the players.
Saturday, 7 rounds of active sessions of 15 minutes plus 5 seconds: 09:30 to 13:30
Saturday lunch break (buffet): 14:00 to 15:00
Saturday, 7 rounds of active sessions of 15 minutes plus 5 seconds: 15:30 to 19:30
There will be trophies and prizes for the active sessions, the youngest player, the best female player, and the top 3 players. In addition the overall winner will receive 150€, the second place will receive 100€, the third place will receive 50€.
A Spanish Ham will also be raffled among the players.
Hotel details and prices:
Hotel check-in at 13:00 on the Friday 7th February 2020, (or earlier by special request).
Hotel check-out at 12:00 on the Saturday 8th February 2020, (bags may be left at reception).
Parking, free wifi and use of tournament rooms courtesy of the hotel.
Bar services open to the public at reasonable prices.
All bookings for rooms and tournament are taken directly via the hotel.
Friday (including tournament fee):
Prices (drinks not included) in a double room:
40€ per person for half-board (evening meal and breakfast).
35€ per person for bed and breakfast only.
Prices (drinks not included) in a double room for single person use:
60€ per person for half-board (evening meal and breakfast).
55€ per person for bed and breakfast only.
Prices for further people:
Free for up to 11 years of age, for half-board (evening meal and breakfast).
30€ for between 12-16 years of age, for half-board (evening meal and breakfast).
Saturday (including tournament fee):
Lunch break buffet (inc. water courtesy of the hotel).
25€ Buffet per person.
15€ Buffet per youth up to 16 years of age.
